Youth Seek Greater Representation in Nigerian Baptist Convention Leadership

The Nigeria Baptist Convention Youth Conference (NBCYC) has appealed to the leadership of the Nigeria Baptist Convention for greater youth representation, increased funding, and stronger institutional support to enable young Baptists to contribute more meaningfully to the Convention’s growth.

The appeal was made by the National President of the Conference, Ambassador Amos Barnabas Kadanga, during his address at the 52nd Annual Session of the NBCYC held at Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.

Kadanga congratulated the immediate past President of the Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, describing his tenure as one that produced several youth-friendly initiatives, particularly the successful Arise Congress held in 2023 and 2025, which showcased the immense potential of Baptist youths.

He also welcomed the new President of the Nigeria Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. David Olusola Idowu, assuring him of the unwavering support and commitment of the entire NBCYC.

“We pledge our continued support and commitment to the Nigeria Baptist Convention,” Kadanga said, expressing optimism that the new administration would create more opportunities for young people within the Convention.

He appealed for increased funding, stronger institutional support, and greater inclusion of youth in the Convention’s day-to-day activities and decision-making processes.

He further requested the Convention’s support to enable more Nigerian Baptist youths to participate in the forthcoming All Africa Baptist Fellowship General Gathering in Kenya.

Kadanga noted that the Conference remains committed to working closely with the Convention’s leadership in advancing youth development, leadership formation, missions, and global engagement for the benefit of the Church and society.
